Dr Zolqarnain graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1992 and post-graduated in Orthopaedic at Universiti Sains Malaysia 2003. Then he was gazetted as Orthopaedic Surgeon at Sarawak General Hospital. Since that he served as Orthopaedic Surgeon at various government hospital.

Dr Zolqarnain has shown interest in musculoskeletal tumor management since in Sarawak with Professor Dr Pan Kok Long UNIMAS. He completed Subspeciality Orthopaedic Oncology programme under Ministry of Health Malaysia in 2013. He is member of Malaysian Orthopaedic Oncology interest group. He served as Consultant Orthopaedic Oncology at Hospital Sultan Ismail known as referral hospital southern Malaysia tumor centre before retired in 2019.

As doctor in Malaysian government services , he was posted to various hospital in Sarawak , Kelantan and Johor. He has long experienced in management of Orthopaedic cases. Dr Zolqarnain involved in general orthopaedic cases , trauma surgery and Arthroplasty. He did trauma surgery and bone fixation involving upper and lower limbs, pelvic and lumbar spine. He managed knee and hip joint replacement surgery, TKR or THR for Osteoarthritis patients. He also do some simple arthroscopic procedure.  As Orthopaedic Oncology surgeon , he involved in management of all musculoskeletal tumor, benign and malignant or cancer, primary and secondary, metastatic bone disease, pathological fracture and etc.    

Dr Zolqarnain has attended many orthopaedic courses conducted locally and abroad. He involved in few publication of orthopaedic posters, papers at orthopaedic conference and journals. He was actively involved in the clinical teaching and examination of medical students such as UNIMAS , Melaka Mannipal University and Newcastle Medical University. He is involved in government nursing diploma programme and supervisor of postgraduates orthopaedic candidates.  At national level he involved in Hospital Cluster project initiated by Ministry of Health. He is alumni of doctors UKM and Post graduate Orthopaedic USM.
